Each image can be up to 100 MiB. Files over 50 MiB trigger a high-memory-use notice. Original and output images are limited to 16 megapixels, with each dimension no greater than 16,384 pixels. Some operations have lower limits; resize the image first if prompted.

About This Tool

WebP Compressor saves static WebP images again to help you balance quality and file size. Use it to prepare smaller web images, transparent icons, or attachments.

How to Use

  1. Choose a static WebP image and check its original file size.
  2. Adjust the quality. The default is 80%.
  3. Click “Compress WebP” and compare transparency, image quality, and file size.
  4. Download the WebP when you are satisfied. If your browser cannot save WebP, use one that supports it.

Settings explained

  • Quality ranges from 10% to 100%, with a default of 80%. The output is always WebP.
  • Transparent WebP images keep their transparency. Compression does not add a background color.

Supported Formats

  • Input: static WebP. Animated WebP is not supported.
  • Output: WebP, preserving pixel dimensions and supporting transparency.

Image Processing Notes

Changes apply to the full original image and keep its loaded pixel width and height by default. The preview may appear smaller; the downloaded file contains the full processed image.

Compression and image quality

  • A quality setting of 100% does not guarantee lossless output. Compare the actual result.
  • An already small WebP may get larger when saved again. The page shows the actual change.
  • If your browser cannot save WebP, an error appears. Use a browser that supports WebP export.
  • Downloads contain the full processed image. Saving again can change file size and compression details, and usually removes original EXIF, GPS, and similar information. Keep your original file.

Privacy

Files are not saved automatically. Download any results you want to keep before clearing or leaving the page, and keep your original file.

FAQ

Does 100% WebP quality mean lossless?

Not necessarily. This quality setting does not guarantee lossless WebP output. Compression changes can occur even at 100%.

Can WebP keep transparency?

Yes. Transparent and semitransparent areas are preserved. If your browser cannot export WebP, the tool will not give you a different format labeled as WebP.

Why is WebP often smaller than JPG?

WebP can often preserve a similar appearance with less data. Results depend on the image content, quality setting, and original file, so not every image will be smaller.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Image loading, adjustments, previews, and downloads all take place in your current browser. Images are not uploaded or sent to an online image processing service.
