Image Dimensions

Check pixel dimensions, aspect ratio, megapixels, and the orientation your image actually displays in.

Your images are processed only in your browser and are never uploaded to a server.

About This Tool

Use the image dimension checker to find the actual pixel width and height of an image, see whether it fits a landscape, portrait, or square layout, and check its aspect ratio and total pixels.

How to Use

  1. Choose or drop in a PNG, JPG/JPEG, or static WebP image.
  2. Check the preview and orientation, then review the width, height, and aspect ratio.
  3. Note the decimal ratio and megapixels if needed. To change the dimensions, open the Resize Image tool below.

Supported Formats

  • PNG, JPG/JPEG, and static WebP images are supported. Choose or drop in one image at a time.
  • Files can be up to 100 MiB, 40 million pixels, and 16384 pixels on either side. Large images need more memory, so choose a size that works well on your device.

Understanding the Results

  • Width and height are shown in pixels (px). The aspect ratio is reduced to its simplest form: for example, 1920×1080 is 16:9.
  • Megapixels (MP) equal width times height divided by 1,000,000. For example, 4032×3024 is about 12.19 MP.
  • Landscape, portrait, and square describe the displayed image. When a phone photo contains a readable EXIF orientation, the dimensions match its correctly oriented preview.
  • Checking information does not change the original file or create a new image download.

Pixel Dimensions and Display Size

  • The preview may be scaled down to fit the page. Its size on your screen is different from the image’s pixel dimensions.
  • The decimal ratio is width divided by height. It expresses the same proportions as the simplified aspect ratio and helps you compare the image with layout requirements.

Privacy

Your images are processed only in your browser and are never uploaded to a server.

The tool does not automatically save your input or results. Copy or download anything you need before clearing or leaving the page, and keep the original image.

FAQ

What do image width and height mean?

Width is the number of pixels across the image, and height is the number from top to bottom. This tool reports dimensions after correcting the photo’s orientation.

What aspect ratio is 1920×1080?

Reducing 1920 and 1080 by their common factor gives 16:9, or a decimal ratio of about 1.7778.

How are megapixels calculated?

Multiply width by height, then divide by 1,000,000. For example, 1000×1000 is 1 MP, and 4032×3024 is about 12.19 MP.

Can EXIF orientation affect width and height?

Yes. A photo that needs a 90° or 270° rotation has its displayed width and height swapped. This tool reports dimensions that match the preview rather than the stored orientation.
