Image Color Analysis

Pixel Color Picker

Read an exact image pixel by its coordinates, then move one pixel at a time to check color and transparency.

Your images are processed only in your browser and are never uploaded to a server.

About This Tool

The pixel color picker is useful for checking exact positions in images, screenshots, and pixel art. Entering coordinates lets you return to the same original pixel reliably.

How to Use

  1. Choose an image and check its correctly oriented preview.
  2. Enter integer X and Y coordinates starting at 0, then select Read Pixel.
  3. Move one pixel at a time with the arrow buttons, or click the preview to select a location.
  4. Check the magnifier, color codes, and alpha, then copy the result you need.

Supported Formats

  • PNG, JPG/JPEG, and static WebP images are supported. Choose or drop in one image at a time.
  • Files can be up to 100 MiB, 40 million pixels, and 16384 pixels on either side. Large images need more memory, so choose a size that works well on your device.

Understanding the Results

  • The upper-left corner is (0, 0). In a 100×100 image, the last valid coordinate is (99, 99).
  • The maximum X is width minus 1, and the maximum Y is height minus 1. Negative, fractional, and out-of-range coordinates show an error.
  • The tool reads full-resolution pixels from the correctly oriented original image, not a reduced preview or analysis sample.
  • Alpha shows transparency. Fully transparent pixels are identified, since their RGB values do not represent a visible color.

Coordinates and Orientation

  • X increases to the right and Y increases downward. For phone photos, this coordinate system applies after the readable orientation information has been used.
  • The preview marker and magnifier follow the selected original pixel, making it easier to inspect edges, transparent areas, and neighboring colors.

Privacy

Your images are processed only in your browser and are never uploaded to a server.

The tool does not automatically save your input or results. Copy or download anything you need before clearing or leaving the page, and keep the original image.

FAQ

Why do pixel coordinates start at 0?

This tool uses zero-based coordinates, with (0, 0) at the upper-left corner. The maximum coordinates are therefore one less than the image width and height.

Can I read (100, 0) in a 100×100 image?

No. Valid X and Y coordinates range from 0 to 99. (100, 0) is past the right edge.

Does the tool read the original image or the smaller preview?

It reads full-resolution pixels from the correctly oriented original image. The preview helps you find a location but is not used as the source for exact color picking.

Why can an alpha-0 pixel still have RGB values?

A decoded pixel may still have RGB values, but alpha 0 means it is completely transparent. Those values therefore do not describe a visible color in the image.
