Image Color Analysis

Image Color Picker

Click or tap an image to see its pixel coordinates, transparency, and color codes.

Your images are processed only in your browser and are never uploaded to a server.

About This Tool

Use the image color picker to sample a specific spot in a photo, screenshot, or design. The preview position maps to a pixel in the correctly oriented original image, with color codes, transparency, and coordinates.

How to Use

  1. Choose or drop in your image.
  2. Click, tap, or drag on the preview to see the current pixel in the results.
  3. Use the magnifier to check nearby pixels, X/Y coordinates, and alpha.
  4. Copy HEX, RGB, or HSL as needed, or copy HEX from a recently selected color.

Supported Formats

  • PNG, JPG/JPEG, and static WebP images are supported. Choose or drop in one image at a time.
  • Files can be up to 100 MiB, 40 million pixels, and 16384 pixels on either side. Large images need more memory, so choose a size that works well on your device.

Understanding the Results

  • HEX, RGB, and HSL describe the same decoded pixel color. Alpha is shown separately on a scale from 0 to 255.
  • Coordinates start at (0, 0) in the upper-left corner of the correctly oriented original image, not the scaled preview.
  • Colors are read from original pixels, without the reduced sampling used for dominant color analysis. Preview scaling and device pixel ratio do not change the matching original coordinates.
  • Fully transparent pixels are labeled as transparent; their RGB values do not represent a visible color. Recent colors are kept only on the current page.

Checking Original Pixel Colors

  • The magnifier shows nearby original pixels so you can distinguish adjacent colors. At the image edges, only valid pixels are shown.
  • Your browser may convert the image’s color profile. Results represent the pixels decoded by the current browser, and their appearance can vary between displays.

Privacy

Your images are processed only in your browser and are never uploaded to a server.

The tool does not automatically save your input or results. Copy or download anything you need before clearing or leaving the page, and keep the original image.

FAQ

How do I get a HEX color from an image?

Choose an image, click or tap the desired spot, and select Copy HEX in the results. Use the magnifier and coordinates to confirm the pixel.

What is the difference between HEX, RGB, and HSL?

They express colors in different ways: HEX uses hexadecimal notation, RGB uses red, green, and blue values, and HSL uses hue, saturation, and lightness. All three are provided here.

What does alpha mean for a transparent pixel?

Alpha records opacity: 0 is fully transparent, and 255 is fully opaque. Consider both the color code and alpha when working with transparent images.

Is color picking accurate when the preview is smaller?

The selected preview position maps to a pixel in the correctly oriented original image. The tool reads that pixel, not the blended color of the scaled preview. Use the magnifier and coordinates to check it.
