About This Tool
Restore an image file from Base64 text. You can enter plain Base64 or a complete Data URI such as data:image/png;base64,... Spaces and line breaks in otherwise valid input are ignored automatically.
How to Use
- Paste the complete Base64 text or image Data URI.
- The image type defaults to “Auto-detect.” If detection fails, check the source and select the actual type.
- Click “Decode Image” to see the type, file size, and preview.
- Check the result, then click “Download Image.” The extension matches the detected image format.
Supported Formats
- Input: standard Base64 with correct = padding, or a Base64 image Data URI. Spaces, tabs, and line breaks are allowed. Maximum text length: 29,360,128 characters.
- Image types: PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, BMP, and SVG. Maximum decoded file size: 20 MiB. SVG must use UTF-8 and be no larger than 2 MiB.
Conversion Details
- Input must be complete and correctly formatted. Invalid characters, incorrect = padding, and image types that do not match the file contents are rejected.
- Auto-detection works with common images. Manually selecting a type does not convert the file to that format; the image contents must still be valid.
- The SVG preview does not run scripts or load external resources. The download preserves the original SVG from your input; use it only if you trust the file’s source.
- The decoded file preserves the content represented by your input. It does not enhance quality or re-encode the image format.
Maximum original image size: 20 MiB. Previews support up to 40 million pixels and 16,384 pixels per side. SVG must use UTF-8, with source content no larger than 2 MiB.
Privacy
Images are processed entirely in your browser and are never uploaded to a server.
This tool does not automatically save your selected image or result. Download anything you want to keep before clearing the page or leaving.
FAQ
What is the difference between plain Base64 and a Data URI?
Plain Base64 contains only the encoded file text. A Data URI also includes the data: prefix, image type, and ;base64, marker. This tool accepts both.
How is the image type identified?
The tool recognizes common formats such as PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, BMP, and SVG. You can also select the actual type, which must match the file contents.
What should I do if the Base64 is invalid?
Copy the entire text again, remove extra quotation marks, and check for missing final characters or incorrect = padding. Spaces and line breaks are allowed.
Will selecting JPG convert a PNG to JPG?
No. The image type confirms the input; it does not change the file format. Use the appropriate image converter to change formats.
Will SVG images run scripts on this page?
No. The page preview excludes scripts and external resources. The download contains the original file represented by your input.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Selection, preview, conversion, and download all happen in your browser. Your images are never uploaded to a server.
