About This Tool
Use this tool when an image needs a specific height, such as a document illustration, portfolio picture, or form attachment. The width is calculated automatically, so you do not need to enter both dimensions.
How to Use
- Choose a local image and check its original dimensions and orientation.
- Enter your target height and check the automatically calculated width.
- Choose PNG, JPG, WebP, or the original format if available. You can choose a background color for JPG.
- Click Change Height, check the output dimensions and preview, and download the image.
Supported Formats
- Input: JPG/JPEG, PNG, static WebP, and BMP images your browser can open, plus SVG files checked for unsafe content. GIF and animated WebP are not supported.
- Output: PNG, JPG, or WebP if your browser supports it. The original format is used when possible; inputs such as BMP and SVG are saved as PNG when their original format cannot be exported.
Image Processing Notes
- Width is calculated from the original proportions and rounded to the nearest pixel. Setting a 1920×1080 image to 500 pixels tall produces a width of 889 pixels.
- Portrait photos work the same way: setting a 1080×1920 image to 1000 pixels tall produces 563×1000.
- The calculated width updates as you change the height. The downloaded file uses those pixel dimensions, not just the size shown in the preview.
- Reducing an image removes pixels. Enlarging it creates additional pixels using smoothing, but cannot restore detail missing from the original.
- PNG and WebP can preserve transparency. JPG blends transparent and partially transparent areas with your selected background color, which is white by default. The checkerboard appears only in the preview.
- Downloaded images usually do not retain the original EXIF, GPS, or other metadata. Phone photos are corrected using their EXIF orientation before dimensions are calculated and the image is processed.
Bitmap files can be up to 100 MiB; files over 50 MiB trigger a high-memory-use notice. Original and output images are limited to 40 million pixels, with each side no longer than 16,384 pixels. SVG files must use UTF-8 and be no larger than 2 MiB.

FAQ
How is the new width calculated?
The width follows the original proportions and is rounded to the nearest whole pixel. For example, setting a 1920×1080 image to 500 pixels tall produces a width of 889 pixels.
Will the image look squashed or stretched?
The original proportions are preserved. You set only the height and the width adjusts automatically; rounding to whole pixels may cause a very slight difference.
Can I make the image taller?
Yes, within the size limits. Enlarging creates more pixels using smoothing, but does not increase the original image’s real detail.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Opening, previewing, processing, and downloading your image all happen in your current browser. Your image is never uploaded or sent to an online image processing service.
