About This Tool
Use percentage resizing when you want to make an image half as large or twice as large without choosing exact dimensions. The percentage applies to each side’s pixel length, not the file size.
How to Use
- Choose a local image and check its original width and height.
- Enter a percentage from 1% to 500%, or use the 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, 125%, 150%, or 200% shortcuts.
- Check the calculated dimensions, then choose an output format and quality setting where available.
- Click Resize by Percentage, compare the result, and download it. Reset Size returns the percentage to 100%.
Supported Formats
- Input: JPG/JPEG, PNG, static WebP, and BMP images your browser can open, plus SVG files checked for unsafe content. GIF and animated WebP are not supported.
- Output: PNG, JPG, or WebP if your browser supports it. The original format is used when possible; inputs such as BMP and SVG are saved as PNG when their original format cannot be exported.
Image Processing Notes
- The same percentage is applied to each dimension. Results are rounded to whole pixels, with a minimum of 1 pixel per side.
- At 50%, a 1920×1080 image becomes 960×540; at 200%, it becomes 3840×2160. Halving each side reduces the total pixel count to about 25% of the original.
- The default is 100%, and the allowed range is 1%–500%. The result must also stay within the per-side and total pixel limits.
- Reducing an image removes pixels. Enlarging it creates additional pixels using smoothing, but cannot restore detail missing from the original.
- PNG and WebP can preserve transparency. JPG blends transparent and partially transparent areas with your selected background color, which is white by default. The checkerboard appears only in the preview.
- Downloaded images usually do not retain the original EXIF, GPS, or other metadata. Phone photos are corrected using their EXIF orientation before dimensions are calculated and the image is processed.
Bitmap files can be up to 100 MiB; files over 50 MiB trigger a high-memory-use notice. Original and output images are limited to 40 million pixels, with each side no longer than 16,384 pixels. SVG files must use UTF-8 and be no larger than 2 MiB.

Images are processed entirely in your browser and are never uploaded to a server.
Your files are never sent to a server, and images are not saved automatically. Download any results you want to keep before clearing or leaving the page, and keep your original files.
FAQ
What does 50% resizing mean?
Both width and height become half their original size. For example, 1920×1080 becomes 960×540, with about one-quarter as many pixels.
Will 200% improve image quality?
It does not add real detail. Each side doubles, giving about four times as many pixels, but the new pixels are created by smoothing and cannot restore missing detail.
Does the percentage apply to dimensions or file size?
It applies equally to pixel width and height. File size also depends on the picture’s content, output format, and quality, so it does not follow the percentage directly.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Opening, previewing, processing, and downloading your image all happen in your current browser. Your image is never uploaded or sent to an online image processing service.
