About This Tool
This tool fits the whole image inside your maximum dimensions while keeping its shape. Use it for thumbnails, documents, or forms with upload size requirements. All of the picture is kept, without cropping or stretching it to fill the box.
How to Use
- Choose an image and check its original dimensions and aspect ratio.
- Enter a maximum width and height. The default limits are 1920×1080.
- Smaller images keep their original size by default. Turn on Allow Enlarging if needed, then choose an output format.
- Click Resize to Fit, check the limits, output dimensions, and scale percentage, then download.
Supported Formats
- Input: JPG/JPEG, PNG, static WebP, and BMP images your browser can open, plus SVG files checked for unsafe content. GIF and animated WebP are not supported.
- Output: PNG, JPG, or WebP if your browser supports it. The original format is used when possible; inputs such as BMP and SVG are saved as PNG when their original format cannot be exported.
Image Processing Notes
- The image is scaled to fit both maximum dimensions, with each result rounded to whole pixels. When Allow Enlarging is off, an image that already fits keeps its original size.
- A 4000×3000 image fits within 1920×1080 as 1440×1080. A 1080×1920 portrait fits within 1000×1000 as 563×1000.
- The maximum dimensions are limits, not an exact output size. No borders or padding are added, and none of the picture is cropped.
- Reducing an image removes pixels. Enlarging it creates additional pixels using smoothing, but cannot restore detail missing from the original.
- PNG and WebP can preserve transparency. JPG blends transparent and partially transparent areas with your selected background color, which is white by default. The checkerboard appears only in the preview.
- Downloaded images usually do not retain the original EXIF, GPS, or other metadata. Phone photos are corrected using their EXIF orientation before dimensions are calculated and the image is processed.
Bitmap files can be up to 100 MiB; files over 50 MiB trigger a high-memory-use notice. Original and output images are limited to 40 million pixels, with each side no longer than 16,384 pixels. SVG files must use UTF-8 and be no larger than 2 MiB.

Your files are never sent to a server, and images are not saved automatically. Download any results you want to keep before clearing or leaving the page, and keep your original files.
FAQ
What does keeping the aspect ratio mean?
Width and height change by the same scale to preserve the image’s shape. A 4:3 image stays approximately 4:3; rounding to whole pixels may cause a tiny difference.
How do maximum width and height work together?
The image is resized just enough to fit both limits, so neither the width nor the height exceeds your chosen maximum.
Why isn’t the result always 1920×1080?
The image can fill both limits only if its original proportions match. A 4000×3000 image is 4:3, so it becomes 1440×1080 to keep its shape.
Can I enlarge images?
Allow Enlarging is off by default. Turn it on to enlarge within your maximum dimensions and the pixel limits. Enlarging does not add real detail.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Opening, previewing, processing, and downloading your image all happen in your current browser. Your image is never uploaded or sent to an online image processing service.
