Each image can be up to 100 MiB. Files over 50 MiB trigger a high-memory-use notice. Original and output images are limited to 16 megapixels, with each dimension no greater than 16,384 pixels. Some operations have lower limits; resize the image first if prompted.

About This Tool

Image Quality Adjuster shows how export quality affects detail and file size. Compare settings to find your preferred balance; this tool does not automatically target a specific file size.

How to Use

  1. Choose a JPG, PNG, or static WebP image.
  2. Choose an output format. JPG/WebP support quality adjustments; PNG has no quality slider.
  3. Click “Apply changes” and compare the preview and actual file size.
  4. Download when the quality meets your needs. To try a different result, change the settings and apply them again.

Settings explained

  • JPG and WebP output support quality from 10% to 100%, with a default of 80%.
  • PNG uses lossless saving, so the quality setting is hidden. When converting a transparent PNG to JPG, you can choose a background color.

Supported Formats

  • Input: JPG/JPEG, PNG, or static WebP. GIF, animated PNG, and animated WebP are not supported.
  • Output: JPG, PNG, or WebP if supported by your browser. Most edits keep the input format by default; opacity and rounded-corner tools default to PNG.

Image Processing Notes

Changes apply to the full original image and keep its loaded pixel width and height by default. The preview may appear smaller; the downloaded file contains the full processed image.

Compression and image quality

  • Quality and resolution are different. This tool changes the output quality or format while preserving pixel width and height.
  • Lossless PNG saving cannot restore details already missing from the original, and it does not guarantee a smaller file.
  • PNG and WebP support transparency. JPG blends transparent areas with your chosen background color, which is white by default. The preview’s checkerboard is not included in the download.
  • Downloads contain the full processed image. Saving again can change file size and compression details, and usually removes original EXIF, GPS, and similar information. Keep your original file.

FAQ

Why does PNG have no quality slider?

PNG uses lossless saving rather than a JPG/WebP-style quality percentage. Choose JPG or WebP to adjust lossy compression quality.

Will 100% quality fix a blurry image?

No. Higher quality can reduce loss from this save, but it cannot restore details missing from the original.

Can this tool compress to a specific file size?

This page lets you compare quality and size manually. To try a target in KB or MB, use Image File Size Reducer.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Image loading, adjustments, previews, and downloads all take place in your current browser. Images are not uploaded or sent to an online image processing service.
