SVG Background Generator

Create SVG backgrounds with colors, gradients, and repeating patterns, then choose your size and download.

Your SVG stays in your browser and is never uploaded to a server.

About This Tool

SVG Background Generator creates simple backgrounds for covers, cards, and presentations. Choose a background type and adjust colors, dimensions, and pattern spacing to get a standalone SVG without an input image.

How to Use

  1. Choose a solid color, linear gradient, radial gradient, or repeating pattern.
  2. Set the canvas dimensions or choose a common size that suits your project.
  3. Adjust colors, gradient direction, or pattern settings and check the preview.
  4. Copy the SVG or download background.svg. For PNG output, use the SVG → PNG tool below.

Features

  • Supports solid colors, two-color linear and radial gradients, dots, grids, and stripes.
  • Adjust dimensions, colors, and the angle, center, radius, or spacing available for each mode.
  • The output is a complete standalone SVG whose vector background stays sharp when enlarged.

Choosing a background and output size

  • Try 1920 × 1080 for widescreen backgrounds, 1200 × 630 for card covers, or 1080 × 1080 for square images. Custom sizes are also available.
  • Gradients blend colors smoothly. Patterns repeat at regular intervals to create an even texture.
  • This tool downloads SVG files. For fixed pixel dimensions or apps that do not support SVG, use SVG → PNG or SVG → JPG with your downloaded file.

SVG Safety

Previews use a filtered static copy. Scripts, click events, animations, external images, fonts, and styles do not run or load. External references, embedded web pages, and unsupported content are removed, so the preview may differ from the original. Documents with a DOCTYPE or custom entities are not supported.

SVG files and UTF-8 source are limited to 2 MiB, 20,000 nodes including elements and text, and 96 nesting levels. Simplify files that are too large or complex before trying again.

Privacy

Your SVG stays in your browser and is never uploaded to a server.

Inputs and results are not saved automatically. Download anything you want to keep before clearing the tool or leaving the page, and keep a copy of your original.

FAQ

Why do SVG backgrounds usually stay sharp when enlarged?

Colors, gradients, and patterns use vector descriptions. The browser redraws them at the display size instead of enlarging a fixed pixel grid.

What is an SVG gradient?

A gradient describes colors changing across positions. Linear gradients follow a direction; radial gradients spread outward from a center.

What is an SVG pattern?

A pattern is a repeating tile, such as dots or a grid. Change its spacing and size to make the background more or less dense.

How can I convert an SVG background to PNG?

Download the generated SVG, open SVG → PNG under Related Tools, choose the file, and set your output dimensions.
