PDF Page Size Checker

Check each page's size and spot mixed paper sizes or orientations.

Your PDF is processed entirely in your browser and is never uploaded to a server.

About this tool

Check the visible area, dimensions, paper size, and orientation of each page. Every page is measured separately, so a document can contain different page sizes.

How to use it

  1. Choose a PDF from your device.
  2. Check each page's width, height, unit conversions, paper size, and orientation.
  3. Look for custom sizes and mixed orientations. Use the rotation tool if you need to change page orientation.

Features

  • Shows points, millimeters, and inches: 1 pt = 1/72 inch and 1 inch = 25.4 mm.
  • Identifies A4, A3, A5, Letter, Legal, and Tabloid with a tolerance of approximately 2 pt.
  • Reports portrait, landscape, or square based on how each page is displayed.
  • Reads each page's visible area and accounts for existing rotation and page scale without rendering every page as an image.

What the dimensions mean

  • The dimensions describe the visible area after cropping, which may differ from the original page boundaries.
  • Pages that do not match a common paper size are labeled Custom. PDF dimensions do not guarantee that a printer supports borderless printing.

Limits

  • Files over 50 MiB display a memory notice. Each PDF can be up to 200 MiB. Complex content also uses memory, so choose files that suit your device.
  • Password-protected and encrypted PDFs are not supported. Use an unencrypted copy you are authorized to access. Damaged or unsupported files may not open.

Privacy

Your PDF is processed entirely in your browser and is never uploaded to a server.

Images, text, and generated results are also processed only in your current browser. Your input is not saved automatically. Download any results you want to keep before clearing or leaving the page, and keep your original files.

FAQ

What does pt mean in a PDF?

pt stands for points. There are 72 points in an inch. To convert points to millimeters, divide by 72 and multiply by 25.4.

Can a PDF contain pages of different sizes?

Yes. The results list each page separately so you can spot a mix of A4, Letter, custom sizes, or orientations.

Why do A4 dimensions include decimals?

Converting millimeters to points usually produces decimals. A4 is approximately 595.28 × 841.89 pt, and paper detection allows a small tolerance.

How are rotated pages measured?

Dimensions and orientation account for existing rotation. A rotation of 90° or 270° usually swaps the displayed width and height.
