About This Tool
The Multi-size Favicon tool creates a custom icon pack. Choose your own combination of sizes when you need small icons, larger images, and a multi-size ICO together.
How to Use
- Choose or drop in a PNG, JPG/JPEG, or static WebP image.
- Choose Fit or Center Crop, then adjust the background and padding.
- Select the sizes you need and generate the matching PNGs and an ICO with eligible sizes.
- Check each icon, then download files individually or as favicon-package.zip.
Supported Sizes
- PNG sizes are 16, 24, 32, 48, 64, 96, 128, 192, 256, and 512 pixels. Each image is square.
- Selected sizes up to 256 pixels can go into the ICO. The 512×512 size is saved separately as a PNG.
- Selecting only 512×512 creates a PNG without an ICO, since no eligible ICO sizes were selected.
Tips for Creating Icons
- Fit keeps the entire image in proportion and fills unused space with your chosen background. Center Crop takes a square from the middle. Neither option stretches the original image.
- Padding is measured on each side of the output: 10% padding leaves roughly 80% of the width and height for the image.
- Small sizes such as 16×16 work best with simple shapes and clear contrast. Complex photos or tiny text may become hard to recognize, so check the actual-size previews.
Supports PNG, JPG/JPEG, and static WebP images. Each file can be up to 100 MiB, with a maximum of 40 million pixels and 16,384 pixels per side. Large images may need more time and memory.
About the Icon Pack and ICO File
- Each PNG uses the exact pixel size you selected: for example, icon-192.png is 192×192. The icon pack contains only files generated in the current run.
- The multi-size ICO stores all selected, eligible sizes in a single file. The results show the image count and file size.
- Larger PNGs work for larger displays, but enlarging an image does not add detail. Use a higher-resolution original if your source image is too small.
Privacy
Your images, emoji, and generated icons are processed only in your browser and are never uploaded to a server.
Your input and results are not saved automatically. Download any icons you want to keep before clearing or leaving the page, and keep your original artwork.
FAQ
Why prepare several icon sizes?
Browser tabs, bookmarks, shortcuts, and other places use different display sizes. Providing suitable sizes helps avoid unnecessary resizing.
Can one ICO contain several sizes?
Yes. Selected images up to 256 pixels go into the same ICO, each at its own dimensions.
Should 512×512 go into the ICO?
This tool saves 512×512 as a separate PNG. It does not put that size in the ICO. If that is the only size selected, no ICO is generated.
Which icons should I prepare for a website?
Start with common 16, 32, and 48-pixel favicons. For home screen or web app icons, use the Apple Touch Icon and Android icon tools.
Will the ZIP include sizes I didn't select?
No. The ZIP contains only successfully generated PNGs for your selected sizes, plus an ICO when you select eligible sizes.
