Android Icon Sizes

Create common Android and PWA icon sizes together, then download PNGs or a ZIP organized into folders.

Your images, emoji, and generated icons are processed only in your browser and are never uploaded to a server.

About This Tool

The Android Icon Sizes tool turns an image into square PNGs for common screen densities and web app icons. Download the files together in one folder or organized into common Android folders.

How to Use

  1. Choose or drop in a PNG, JPG/JPEG, or static WebP image.
  2. Choose Fit or Center Crop, set the background color, and adjust padding on each side.
  3. Select the sizes and ZIP folder layout you need, then click Generate Android Icons.
  4. Check your icons, download the PNGs or ZIP, and copy the PWA manifest icon entries if needed.

Supported Sizes

  • Common traditional launcher icon sizes are 48×48 for mdpi, 72×72 for hdpi, 96×96 for xhdpi, 144×144 for xxhdpi, and 192×192 for xxxhdpi.
  • 192×192 and 512×512 are also common icon sizes for a PWA's Web App Manifest.

Tips for Creating Icons

  • Fit keeps the entire image in proportion and fills unused space with your chosen background. Center Crop takes a square from the middle. Neither option stretches the original image.
  • Padding is measured on each side of the output: 10% padding leaves roughly 80% of the width and height for the image.
  • Small sizes such as 16×16 work best with simple shapes and clear contrast. Complex photos or tiny text may become hard to recognize, so check the actual-size previews.

Supports PNG, JPG/JPEG, and static WebP images. Each file can be up to 100 MiB, with a maximum of 40 million pixels and 16,384 pixels per side. Large images may need more time and memory.

Android and PWA Icon Sizes

  • The flat layout uses names such as icon-48.png. The Android layout places each density icon in its matching mipmap folder and keeps the 512×512 file in the root folder.
  • The PWA manifest text includes only the 192×192 and 512×512 icons you generated, with paths that match your chosen folder layout.
  • You receive standard square PNG icons. Adaptive icons use separate foreground and background images and need room around the artwork for different shapes; these downloads are single, finished images.

Privacy

Your images, emoji, and generated icons are processed only in your browser and are never uploaded to a server.

Your input and results are not saved automatically. Download any icons you want to keep before clearing or leaving the page, and keep your original artwork.

FAQ

What do mdpi, hdpi, and xhdpi mean?

They are common Android screen density groups. This tool uses the traditional launcher icon sizes associated with those groups to prepare matching PNG files.

Why do Android icons need multiple sizes?

Different screen densities need different pixel counts. Providing the matching size reduces the extra resizing needed when an icon is displayed.

What can I use 192×192 and 512×512 for?

These sizes are commonly used in a PWA's Web App Manifest. The 192×192 size also matches the traditional xxxhdpi icon size offered by this tool.

How does a regular PNG differ from an adaptive icon?

A regular PNG is one finished image. An adaptive icon has a separate foreground and background so it can fit different system shapes. This tool creates regular PNGs.

What does the download include?

Your download includes the selected PNG icons, optionally organized into folders. PWA icon links are provided separately as text you can copy from the results.
