About This Tool
A favicon is the small website icon shown in browser tabs, bookmarks, and similar places. This tool provides common sizes for a quick, ready-to-download set of website icons.
How to Use
- Choose or drop in a PNG, JPG/JPEG, or static WebP image.
- Choose Fit or Center Crop, adjust the background, and set padding from 0% to 30% on each side.
- Generate your icons and check the actual 16×16 and 32×32 previews and the sample browser tab.
- Download icons individually or as a ZIP, then copy the HTML links that match the generated files.
Supported Sizes
- favicon.ico contains three images: 16×16, 32×32, and 48×48.
- You also get favicon-16x16.png, favicon-32x32.png, and favicon-48x48.png.
Tips for Creating Icons
- Fit keeps the entire image in proportion and fills unused space with your chosen background. Center Crop takes a square from the middle. Neither option stretches the original image.
- Padding is measured on each side of the output: 10% padding leaves roughly 80% of the width and height for the image.
- Small sizes such as 16×16 work best with simple shapes and clear contrast. Complex photos or tiny text may become hard to recognize, so check the actual-size previews.
Supports PNG, JPG/JPEG, and static WebP images. Each file can be up to 100 MiB, with a maximum of 40 million pixels and 16,384 pixels per side. Large images may need more time and memory.
Using Your Website Icons
- Place the downloaded icons on your website, then add the generated HTML links to the page's head section. The links assume the files are in the website's root folder; adjust the paths if you put them elsewhere.
- The HTML links list only the files you generated and are ready to copy. For Apple home screen icons or Android/PWA sizes, use the related tools below.
- The sample tab helps you judge how clear the icon looks in a small space. Its appearance may vary between browsers.
Privacy
Your images, emoji, and generated icons are processed only in your browser and are never uploaded to a server.
Your input and results are not saved automatically. Download any icons you want to keep before clearing or leaving the page, and keep your original artwork.
FAQ
What is favicon.ico?
It is a common website icon file that can contain several sizes for use in browser tabs, bookmarks, and other places.
Which favicon sizes should I prepare?
This tool provides common 16×16, 32×32, and 48×48 sizes. Use the Multi-size Favicon tool for larger icons or other size combinations.
How are PNG favicons and ICO files different?
Each PNG file has one pixel size, while an ICO can hold several sizes. The download includes both formats so you can use whichever your website needs.
Where should I put my favicon files?
The generated links use the website's root folder by default, such as /favicon.ico. You can use another folder, but each link must match the file's actual location.
Why isn't my new icon showing in the browser right away?
Your browser may have cached the old favicon. Check the files and link paths, then try refreshing the page, clearing the relevant cache, or reopening the tab.
