1. La estructura mínima de una oración completa.
Lo más básico:
Subject + Verb
Por ejemplo:
Birds fly.
Aves = sujeto
volar = predicado
No importa lo complicado que sea:
The students study English.
S + V + O
No importa lo complicado que sea:
The professor gave the students an assignment.
S + V + objeto indirecto + objeto directo
|---|---|---|
| SV | sujeto + predicado | Birds fly. |
| SVC | Sujeto + verbo de enlace + predicado | The problem is serious. |
| SVO | sujeto + predicado + objeto | Students need practice. |
| SVOO | Sujeto + predicado + objeto doble | She gave me a book. |
| SVOC | Sujeto + predicado + objeto + complemento | They found the task difficult. |
The rapid development of communication technologies in many developing countries has changed the way people work.
Estructura real:
development has changed the way
en lugar de:
technologies have changed
Porque la palabra central del asunto es:
development
1. Toda oración independiente debe tener un predicado verdadero.
Correcto:
The scientist discovered a new species.
Error:
The scientist discovering a new species.
¿Por qué?
Porque:
descubriendo ≠ predicado
Es sólo un participio presente.
Requiere:
The scientist discovered a new species.
O:
The scientist is discovering a new species.
|---|---|
| work | bien |
| works | bien |
| worked | bien |
| is working | bien |
| has worked | bien |
| working | ❌ |
| to work | ❌ |
| trabajado (participio pasado) | Generalmente no solo |
| having worked | ❌ |
Por ejemplo:
The researchers working in the laboratory discovered the problem.
Aquí están:
working
discovered
Pero sólo:
discovered
es el predicado real.
trabajando en el laboratorio investigadores de modificación.
The scientist discovered that the theory was incorrect.
Las formas comunes incluyen:
discovered
was
¿Por qué?
Porque hay:
that
Se forman dos estructuras:
The scientist discovered ...
y
the theory was incorrect
and
but
because
although
if
when
while
that
which
who
because of ❌
Error:
The experiment failed the researchers repeated it.
En realidad, hay dos frases aquí:
The experiment failed.
The researchers repeated it.
No puedo luchar directamente.
Correcto:
The experiment failed, so the researchers repeated it.
O:
Because the experiment failed, the researchers repeated it.
8. Concordancia sujeto-verbo
TOEFL de súper alta frecuencia.
Principios básicos:
sujeto singular → predicado singular
sujeto plural → predicado plural
Por ejemplo:
The student works hard.
The students work hard.
The effects of climate change are becoming increasingly apparent.
No:
climate change is
verdadero tema:
effects
Entonces:
are
9. Las frases preposicionales no cambian de tema
Muy importante.
The number of students is increasing.
Asunto:
The number
No estudiantes.
Por lo tanto:
The number of students is increasing.
Sin embargo:
A number of students are absent.
Esta es la diferencia fija:
el número de + sustantivo plural + verbo singular
Indica "la cantidad de...".
un número de + sustantivo plural + verbo plural
Significa "muchos...".
together with
The professor, together with his students, is attending the conference.
El tema sigue siendo:
professor
as well as
The teacher, as well as the students, was invited.
along with
The president, along with several advisers, has arrived.
Ninguno de estos es como y.
reales:
The professor and his students are attending.
11. cada uno / cada / cualquiera / ninguno
Generalmente tratados en números impares.
Every student is required to attend.
Each book has a different title.
Neither answer is correct.
Either option is acceptable.
12. Pronombres indefinidos
Generalmente singular:
someone
somebody
something
anyone
anybody
anything
everyone
everybody
everything
no one
nobody
nothing
each
either
neither
Por ejemplo:
Everyone has a different opinion.
There is a problem.
There are several problems.
TOEFL puede ser muy largo:
There are several important factors that influence language development.
14. Tiempos verbales
past
present
future
past viewpoint
Y cuatro cuerpos:
simple
continuous
perfect
perfect continuous
Combinados para producir varios tiempos verbales.
15. Tiempo presente
Estructura:
do / does
Propósito:
Hechos, patrones, hábitos, condiciones a largo plazo.
Water boils at 100°C.
Many animals migrate seasonally.
Muy común en inglés académico.
Describa las conclusiones generales del estudio:
Research shows that exercise improves cognitive performance.
16. Tiempo pasado simple
Estructura:
did
Eventos que han terminado en el pasado.
The researchers conducted the experiment in 2019.
Hora típica:
yesterday
last year
in 1990
two years ago
17. Presente perfecto
Estructura:
have/has + past participle
Scientists have discovered several new species.
Comparar con el pasado:
Scientists discovered the species in 1998.
Tiempo pasado con final definido → tiempo pasado simple.
18. Tiempo pasado perfecto
had + PP
significa:
pasado pasado
Por ejemplo:
By the time the researchers arrived, the animals had disappeared.
Relación de tiempo:
animals disappeared
↓
researchers arrived
↓
Ahora
19. En progreso
be + V-ing
Indica estado continuo y temporal.
The climate is changing rapidly.
Scientists are studying the phenomenon.
20. Tiempos consistentes
The researchers collected the samples and analyzed them.
No te confundas:
collected ... analyze
21. Voz Pasiva Voz Pasiva
Muy común en TOEFL Academic English.
Estructura:
be + past participle
Activo:
Scientists discovered the fossil.
Pasivo:
The fossil was discovered by scientists.
Común:
is used
was discovered
has been found
can be observed
were produced
22. Los errores más comunes en voz pasiva
Error:
The fossil discovered in 1990.
The fossil was discovered in 1990.
Sin embargo:
The fossil discovered in 1990 is extremely rare.
Aquí:
discovered in 1990
Predicado verdadero:
is
23. Verbos modales
Importante:
can
could
may
might
must
should
will
would
Estructura:
forma modal + base verbal
Correcto:
can produce
Error:
can produces
can produced
can producing
can to produce
Especulación pasada:
may have caused
Estructura:
modal + have + PP
Por ejemplo:
Climate change may have contributed to the extinction.
24. Subjuntivo
Al TOEFL le gusta uno en particular:
sugerir / recomendar / exigir / insistir + eso + S + forma base verbal
Por ejemplo:
The professor suggested that the student revise the paper.
No:
revises
Este formulario a veces se escribe:
should revise
Tres tipos principales:
to do
doing
done
Es decir:
infinitivo
gerundio/participio presente
participio pasado
26. Hasta infinitivo
Estructura:
to + verb
Por ejemplo:
Students need to study.
Scientists attempted to explain the phenomenon.
Comúnmente usado para hacer:
want
hope
plan
decide
expect
attempt
learn
need
agree
refuse
promise
27. Gerundio: V-ing como sustantivo
Por ejemplo:
Reading improves vocabulary.
Lectura = tema.
Students enjoy reading.
lectura = objeto.
Imprescindibles comunes:
enjoy
avoid
consider
finish
suggest
mind
practice
admit
Por ejemplo:
The researchers considered changing the methodology.
by using
without considering
before conducting
after completing
instead of doing
Error:
by use
Si es un verbo que significa normalmente:
by using
29. to no es necesariamente un infinitivo
Súper importante.
Algunas son preposiciones.
Por ejemplo:
look forward to seeing you.
No:
look forward to see
Porque aquí:
a = preposición
Similar a:
be accustomed to doing
be used to doing
object to doing
contribute to doing
lead to doing
30. Participio presente V-ing
Generalmente expresado:
tomar la iniciativa / llevar a cabo
Por ejemplo:
Students studying abroad often experience cultural differences.
Completo:
Students who study abroad...
Reducción:
Students studying abroad...
31. Participio pasado PP
Generalmente expresado:
Pasivo/Completo
Por ejemplo:
The book written by Darwin became famous.
Completo:
The book that was written by Darwin...
Reducción:
The book written by Darwin...
Entonces es muy importante:
hacer → tomar la iniciativa
hecho → pasivo
Comparar:
animals living in forests
Los propios animales viven.
animals affected by pollution
Los animales se ven afectados.
32. Estructura del participio
Por ejemplo:
Using advanced technology, scientists identified the species.
Los temas lógicos deben ser consistentes.
Aquí:
¿Quién usa la tecnología?
scientists。
Muy correcto.
Error:
Using advanced technology, the species was identified by scientists.
33. Verbos causativos
make
hacer + O + forma base del verbo
The discovery made scientists reconsider the theory.
let
let + O + forma base del verbo
The teacher let students leave early.

Puede:
I saw him leave.
Énfasis en el movimiento completo.

Al TOEFL le gusta mucho.
Contable:
student
book

research
evidence
knowledge
equipment
furniture

Entonces:
Error:
an information
Correcto:
information
Error:
many research
Generalmente:
much research
O:
many studies
Treinta y seis.
No puedo:
Student entered classroom.
Generalmente es necesario:
A student entered the classroom.
O:
The student...
O:
My student...
Entonces:

101. Evita las conjunciones dobles
Pensar en chino es muy fácil:
Error:
Although the experiment failed, but researchers learned something.
Inglés:
Although the experiment failed, researchers learned something.
O:
The experiment failed, but researchers learned something.
Asimismo:
Error:
Because it rained, so we stayed home.
Error:
The experiment failed, the researchers tried again.
Esto es:
comma splice
Debería:
The experiment failed, so the researchers tried again.
O:
The experiment failed; the researchers tried again.
O:
Because the experiment failed, the researchers tried again.
The rapid expansion of cities in developing countries has created serious environmental problems.
No veo:
countries
Sólo elige:
have
El núcleo de todo el tema:
expansion
Entonces:
has。
104. Insertar trampa de ingredientes
The professor, along with several graduate students, is conducting the research.
Eliminar insertar:
The professor is conducting the research.
105. Estructura nominal compleja
Inglés académico en abundancia:
the development of modern transportation systems
Palabras centrales:
development
Todos:
of modern transportation systems
Sólo adorno.
No importa lo complicado que sea:
the effects of increasing global temperatures on marine ecosystems
Núcleo:
effects
Entonces:
The effects ... are significant.
106. Preguntas de estructura clásica del TOEFL ITP
Este tipo de preguntas suele verse así:
_____ one of the most important discoveries in modern medicine.
The discovery was...
The animals was observed in several different environments.
Necesito encontrar:
was
Porque:
animals → were
iBT Writing ahora requiere claramente:
because of / was canceled / the outdoor event / heavy rain
Encuentra primero:
Asunto:
the outdoor event
Predicado:
was canceled
Razón:
because of heavy rain
Respuesta:
The outdoor event was canceled because of heavy rain.
have shown / regular exercise / several recent studies / that / improves memory
El primer paso es encontrar el tema:
several recent studies
Predicado del segundo paso:
have shown
that...
Cláusula del cuarto paso:
regular exercise improves memory
Obtener:
Several recent studies have shown that regular exercise improves memory.
① Predicado circular
↓
② Encuentra el sujeto correspondiente a cada predicado.
↓
③ Determine cuántos S+V hay
↓
④ Encuentra palabras de conexión
↓
⑤ Eliminar temporalmente frases preposicionales, participios y paréntesis
↓
⑥ Distinguir entre cláusula principal y cláusula subordinada
Por ejemplo:
Although many scientists initially rejected the theory, evidence collected during subsequent experiments gradually convinced researchers that the hypothesis was correct.
Encuentre primero el predicado real:
rejected
convinced
was
Tres.
Entonces:
Although many scientists rejected the theory,
Cláusula de primer nivel.
evidence ... convinced researchers
Cláusula principal.
that the hypothesis was correct
Cláusula objeto.
Y:
collected during subsequent experiments
concordancia sujeto-verbo
Predicado vs no predicado
doing / done / to do
activo/pasivo
cláusulas conectivas
cláusula sustantiva
cláusula atributiva
cláusula adverbial
estructura paralela
Nivel A: Muy importante
tenso
completado
verbo modal
artículo
Contables e incontables
pronombre
Comparativo
colocación de preposición
sentencia condicional
reducción de participio
comparar estructuras
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Estructura básica de la oración S/V/O/C | ★★★★★ |
| 2 | Predicado y no predicado | ★★★★★ |
| 3 | concordancia sujeto-verbo | ★★★★★ |
| 4 | tiempo, tiempo perfecto, tiempo progresivo | ★★★★ |
| 5 | activo y pasivo | ★★★★★ |
| 6 | infinitive / gerund / participle | ★★★★★ |
| 7 | sustantivo, artículo, determinante | ★★★★ |
| 8 | pronombre | ★★★ |
| 9 | adjetivo, adverbio, parte del discurso | ★★★★★ |
| 10 | Comparación, cantidad, estructura paralela. | ★★★★ |
| 11 | Oraciones compuestas y conjunciones | ★★★★★ |
| 12 | cláusula sustantiva | ★★★★★ |
| 13 | cláusula atributiva | ★★★★★ |
| 14 | Oraciones adverbiales y condicionales | ★★★★★ |
| 15 | Estructuras especiales como inversión, virtualidad y énfasis. | ★★★ |
The development of new technologies have...
Esté alerta ahora.
desarrollo = singular:
has
Ver:
Scientists interested to study...
Esté alerta ahora.
interested in studying
Ver:
The animals living in the forest is...
Asunto:
animals
Entonces:
are
Ver:
Although X, but Y
Esté alerta ahora.
Eliminar pero.
Ver:
because of the temperature increased
Esté alerta ahora.
debido a + sustantivo.
O:
because the temperature increased
O:
because of the increase in temperature
Ver:
the experiment conducting by scientists
Esté alerta ahora.
se realiza el experimento:
conducted
Ver:
researchers don't know why did the species disappear
why the species disappeared
Ver:
allow students use
Esté alerta ahora:
allow students to use
Ver:
by use technology
Esté alerta ahora:
by using technology
Ver:
more easier
Esté alerta ahora.
No se puede comparar dos veces:
easier
Ver:
informations / researches / equipments
Esté alerta ahora.
Generales:
information / research / equipment
Had it not been for the unprecedented proliferation of technological advancements...
Although X, Y.
X because Y.
Studies have shown that X.
X, which Y, can Z.
If X occurs, Y may happen.
One reason is that X.
Not only X but also Y.
S / V / O / C
→ sistema verbal
Tiempo / Voz / Modalidad / Concordancia sujeto-verbo
→ no predicado
to do / doing / done
→ sistema sustantivo
Singular y plural / contable e incontable / artículo / pronombre
→ Sistema de modificación

→ Conecte el sistema
and / but / because / although...
→ Tres cláusulas principales
Cláusula sustantiva / cláusula atributiva / cláusula adverbial
→ estructura compleja
